Four of Hollywood’s most famous leading men have joined forces in the new comedy ‘Last Vegas.’
The film tells the story of three friends in their ’60s who take a break from their day-to-day lives to throw a bachelor party in Las Vegas for their last remaining single pal Billy.
‘Last Vegas’ brings together a stellar cast of five Oscar winners: Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Kline and Mary Steenburgen. There is even a brief cameo by rapper 50 Cent.
At the film’s New York premiere, Douglas, who plays the role of Billy in the film, said that he wasn’t sure how things were going to turn out at first, since none of the lead actors had worked together prior to this film:
“You just hope you don’t have a jerk in the group. I don’t know what to say. Chemistry is one of those things on screen that happens or doesn’t. You have the best intentions beforehand, but you never know how it’s going to turn out,” he said.
Morgan Freeman was enthusiastic about the film: “It was a wonderful experience,” he said. “Just try to imagine you get a chance to work with people you really do lionise.”
How was it for Jon Turteltaub, the film’s director, to work with such cinema legends?
“Scary,” he responded. “I just wanted to be loved, I just wanted them to like me, that was all I cared about. I was worried about the movie because you sit there thinking, ‘if this is terrible I don’t have the guns to tell them to do something different.’ Do I have what it takes to say, ‘you stink, Robert De Niro’, ‘you’re terrible, Michael.’ No, so you keep your fingers crossed and then out come these performances from these actors and it’s just like you imagined your whole life.”
The film sees the four decide to stop acting their age, and party as they did when they were younger. On arrival, however, they quickly realise that the decades have transformed Sin City, testing their friendship in ways they never imagined.
‘Last Vegas’ is showing in cinemas now.
