The International Olympic committee on Friday lauded praise on the construction for the 2014 Winter Games saying the facilities in Sochi are absolutely outstanding.
IOC vice president Craig Reedie was speaking at a World Conference on Sport and Environment in the Black Sea resort and added the Games would be quite ecological.
Reedie said: “It (the construction works) is hugely impressive. And the most important thing that any organising committee can do is to make sure that what is used to build the facilities will be environmentally-friendly, because that is probably more important that anything else. And the facilities are absolutely outstanding.”
Reedie’s comments come a few days after the Associated Press revealed Russia’s state-owned rail monopoly has been dumping tons of waste into an illegal landfill just north of Sochi violating organizers’ “Zero Waste” pledge for the Olympics.
