A European Parliament delegation was received at the White House this week, its mission to apply diplomatic first aid to the Edward Snowden intelligence leaks that blew cracks in transatlantic trust. Portuguese RTP television reported.

New leaks spring every day. The Washington Post newspaper nailed Yahoo and Google after naming countries whose behaviour might be in doubt, including Switzerland, Swiss TSR television reported.

Snowden – on America’s most-wanted list – hides out in Russia, where he is not only sheltered but feted. A Cold War gloom pervades the case. Spanish TVE television reports on the beginnings of electronic interception.

Germans reacted strongly to the NSA scandal, notably because of Communist regime surveillance in the former East Germany, before reunification. Swiss Radio and Television RSI reported.
