Goblins and ghouls took over the White House for Halloween. Children and their parents mingled with staffers in costume, while President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama gave out treats.
An annual tradition of the Obamas, the event returned after a hiatus last year, when the festivities had to be called off due to Superstorm Sandy.
Elsewhere, revellers in New York were glad to hold their parade again. It was also cancelled last year due to the so-called ‘Frankenstorm’.
Taking part in the parade, Andrea said: “I think everybody is really excited. It’s awesome to be back out here and I have my costume from last year, so we’re bringing it back!”
Rhonda, dressed as a queen fairy, added: “It’s fun. Good, clean fun!”
