Hurricane Raymond looms off Mexico's coast

Heavy rains and floodwater have battered parts of Mexico.

Hurricane Raymond continues to be held at bay in the Pacific. It’s being held up by a cold front for now, but this could bring more rain over the next seventy-two hours.

Acapulco’s famous beaches, a popular tourist destination, are already deserted

Raymond is currently a category three hurricane about a hundred and forty-five kilometres off Mexico’s southern Pacific coast.

Miami’s National Hurricane Centre reported winds of 193 kilometres per hour but they weakened slightly on Monday night.

Ports and schools have been closed, but airports have remained open so far.

Fears of flash floods and mudslides have prompted authorities to leave high-risk areas and avoid travelling by road.
