Web users have vented their frustration after popular social networking website Facebook began experiencing problems.

People are reporting they are currently unable to send messages, like posts or publish status updates.

The error message reads: “There was a problem updating your status, please try again in a few minutes.”

Users have taken to Facebook rival Twitter to share their annoyance. The tongue-in-cheek hastag #RIP Facebook was trending on its worldwide edition.
