Truck-bomb kills at least 30 in central Syrian city.


The moment a truck a bomb in the Syrian city of Hama exploded killing more than 30 people.

And this appears to be Syrian rebels preparing the vehicle before it makes off on its mission.

The truck is understood to have been driven by a suicide bomber who detonated his load of 1.5 tonnes of explosives on a busy road on the outskirts of the central Syrian city.

As well as the fatalities there were dozens of wounded in the blast.

One Syrian soldier at the scene said that he did not believe this attack was homegrown. “They were most likely from Qatar or Saudi Arabia,” he said.

One you man caught up in the blast was heading to school. “The first blast injured this leg, the second blast injured the other,” he said.

The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the attack targeted an army checkpoint but most of the dead were civilians.

Syria’s two and a half year conflict began as peaceful protest, but descended into civil war. More than 100,000 people have been killed in the fighting, according to UN figures.
