Mountain biking was taken to the extreme over the weekend when 25 daredevils unleashed some heat-stopping rides at the Red Bull Rampage in Southern Utah.
Unfortunately the weather conditions didn’t allow for more than one run each but American Kyle Strait made the most of his single run to impressive the judges and win the event for a second time – nine years after his first triumph.
He is the very first repeat winner of the Rampage since its inception in 2002.
Combining skills from downhill freeride, slopestyle, dirt jumping and racing, riders were free to chose whatever line they dared between an established start gate and the finish line 1,500 vertical feet below.
The rides that followed brought some of the competitors spectacularly crashing down but all the spectators to their feet.
