Supporters of Argentina’s President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner have gathered outside the Buenos Aires hospital where she is due to have surgery to treat bleeding on her brain.
It is the latest health scare for Kirchner, 60, who had surgery last year to remove her thyroid glands.
Her husband, former President Nestor Kirchner, died of a heart attack in 2010.
Supporters of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who has been in power since 2007, rallied outside the hospital.
Mirta Eguia said: “I had a great need to come here and show my support for our boss, our President Cristina – to thank her for everything as she’s giving her life, ignoring her body, to improve our society and our country every day.”
Another well-wisher, Dario Lewers, said: “Nestor gave his life. We don’t want the same thing to happen to Cristina.”
