Uzbekistan starlet Soyib Kurbanov beat his compatriot in a pulsating home contest at the Judo Grand Prix.
Unseeded Kurbanov triumphed over Ramziddin Sayidov on the final day of the competition in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
In an incredible atmosphere neither athlete seemed able to take advantage, when, with 23 seconds to go, Kurbanov launched a winning counter attack.
There was also an Uzbekistani interest in the over 100-kilo category.
But it was Germany’s Andre Breitbarth who triumphed over home star Boltoboy Baltaev. The German won after Baltaev was disqualified, including two penalties for lack of engagement.
Elsewhere Croatia’s Ivana Maranic won gold after beating American Samantha Bleier in the women’s under 78 kilo class.
Meanwhile In the women’s over 78 kilo catergory, Kazakhstan’s veteran Gulzhan Issanova triumphed.
