At least four people have been killed and a church set on fire during riots in the Kenyan port city of Mombasa.
Riot police fired gunshots and teargas to try to quell the disturbances.
The rioters took to the streets following the killing of an Islamic cleric, blamed by his followers on security forces.
The Kenyan Red Cross said that the four people who died in the rioting had all suffered gunshot wounds.
The rioting is believed to have been sparked by the death of a local Imam, whose body was found with those of three other men in their bullet riddled car on the outskirts of Mombasa.
