Frenchman Sebastien Ogier has claimed the World Rally Championship on day one of Rally of France.
The 29-year-old started his home rally 83 points ahead of his nearest rival, Belguim’s Thierry Neuville.
Neuville was simply too far behind the Volkswagen man with only the Rally of Spain and Britain remaining.
Ogier takes the crown from compatriot and record nine-times world champion Sebastien Loeb.
Ogier says he can now attack in the final two days of the rally as his objective has already been reached.
