MIPCOM, which is held in Cannes, is an international salon which attracts around 13,000 leaders in film, TV, digital media, and advertising. At MIPCOM, people network and do business, discover future trends, and cement partnerships on a global level. Insiders anticipate that this year will be a golden one for television, as film directors and stars work on cinema-quality content for the small screen.
Multi-platform entertainment – being able to access the same content on a television, a desk top, a tablet or a smartphone isn’t new. But content providers, especially when it comes to news, are still working out how to make it pay.
Nearly 2,000 companies from around 100 countries worldwide will be exhibiting at MIPCOM. Rising stars in the entertainment industry include Turkey and several African countries.
Highlights this year are expected to include talks given by CEOs of large entertainment companies. Jeffrey Katzenberg, the CEO of Dreamworks Animation will be giving a keynote speech, for example. MIPCOM will run from 7th to 10th October in Cannes.
