Paris was at its fashion finest as film and rock stars mixed, with proud dad Sir Paul McCartney taking a front row seat for his daughter Stella’s ready-to-wear collection.

Known for her understated approach, Stella stayed on familiar ground with light-as-air transparent fabrics and fluid shapes.

Colours ranged from navy, rust and black to neutral shades and a floral touch. Stella McCartney’s Spring/Summer collection 2014 could almost make you forget that Autumn is upon us.

She explained what it is all about: “It was very much about the summer season, really just celebrating that and celebrating the Stella woman as well, within that world. Having a very, sort of, honest approach to who she is and what she needs and at the same time pushing her and elevating her to a place where she is new.”

Her dad says he thinks she is getting better and better. “This looks good,” said Sir Paul and onlookers at Paris Fashion Week certainly seemed to agree.

Elie Saab’s Spring-Summer collection was inspired by an English garden.

“We called the collection ‘A Lace Garden’ because I was thinking of an English garden where there is bougainvillea, magnolia and roses. That is how we chose the colour palette of the collection,” he said.

The Lebanese designer’s offerings were feminine and flattering which is why his customers keep coming back for more.

Transparency, light fabrics, sparkle, silk, lace and embroidered flowers graced the collection, enhancing the female form.

An English garden bloomed in Paris, cultivated to perfection.
