David Silva has recovered from a thigh injury and should feature for Manchester City in their Champions League Group D clash with holders Bayern Munich on Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium.
Sergio Aguero has also recovered from a minor knock and will play a part for boss Manuel Pelligrini, who had a poor record against counterpart and former Barca coach Pep Guardiola during his time in Spain.
The Chilean, however, was unconcerned by his past record against Guardiola and said: “Football is always different. I always have the same answer when you have question about the past. The past is the past and we are seeing tomorrow what happens in the future. Tomorrow we have a game, not I repeat, not a game by (Bayern manager Pep) Guardiola against me. It is Bayern against Manchester City”.
Treble winners Bayern have started this campaign in commanding fashion. They are unbeaten in the Bundelisga and began their European title defence by thrashing CSKA.
Guardiola sees Mario Goetze return to the fold as the reigning champions look to continue their fine start to the competition.
Also in the group CSKA Moscow entertain Viktoria Plzeň from the Czech republic with both sides bidding for their first win so far in the group stage.
In Group A Manchester United will look to put their poor domestic form behind them and continue their winning ways in Europe when they play Shakhtar Donetsk as Leverkusen host Real Sociedad.
In Group B leaders and nine-times champions Real Madrid host second placed Copenhagen at the Santiago Bernabéu while Italian champions Juventus host Roberto Mancini’s Galatasaray.
In Group C the expensively assembled Paris Saint Germain entertain Benfica both looking for their second win in two outings while Anderlecht and Olympiacos lock horns in Belgium.
