Russia: jailed Pussy Riot member Tolonnikova denied visits

One of the two imprisoned members of Pussy Riot has been denied all visits, even by family members.

The Russian authorities say the move is to protect Nadezhda Tolonnikova’s fragile health, a day after she was admitted to hospital having begun a hunger strike a week ago.

Her lawyers intend to protest to the European Court of Human Rights.

Tolonnikova and another young woman are serving two-year sentences for singing a “punk prayer” against Vladimir Putin in a Moscow cathedral.
