Europe’s largest carmaker, Volkswagen, has opened a new factory in the Chinese province of Guangdong.
The plant has the capacity to produce 300,000 units a year.
The company says that will double once the factory’s second phase is complete.
The new facility will provide some 6,500 jobs.
Volkswagen has a massive interest in China delivering over 2 million vehicles in the first eight months of this year, an increase of 17.9 per cent on 2012.
VW plan to invest 9.8 billion euros in China by 2018.
