France will get another crack at winning their first major basketball title on Sunday when they take on Lithuania in the final of the European championships in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
It’s the second time in a row France have made the tournament’s showpiece match after losing their first to Spain in the last edition in 2011.
France’s NBA star Tony Parker said: “I think we have to use the experience of 2011. In 2011, we were so happy to make the finals; it was the first time for French national team to qualify for the Olympics. I think we were so happy that we don’t play hard enough for the final.”
Whilst France booked their ticket to the final beating title holders Spain in the semis Lithuania made it after defeating Croatia.
The Baltic nation are hunting their fourth European title after reigning supreme in 1937 and 1939 but more recently in 2003.
