Lithuania outclass Croatia to reach final

Former European champions Lithuania reached their first Euro Basket final since winning the 2003 tournament after thumping Croatia 77-62 in Slovenia on Friday.

Panathinaikos shooting guard Jonas Maciulis produced a man of the match performance to lead the winners with 23 points and six rebounds while forward Linas Kleiza added 22 to hand Lithuania their ninth win in 10 matches against Jasmin Repeša’s men.

Mantas Kalnietis’ team-mates will next lock horns with France after les Bleus overcame a shaky start to edge out reigning champions Spain by the narrowest of margins in Ljubljana.

Vincent Collet’s men were made to battle hard throughout the contest and were trailing by 14 points before stepping it up a gear in the third and fourth quarters, eventually winning through 75-72.
