Biometric cards

The Argentine Football Association will be looking to reduce hooliganism this season as Sunday’s clash between Colon de Santa Fe and San Lorenzo will see the introduction of a new biometric system in place of old-fashioned paper tickets.

The scheme, which has reportedly cost the AFA 47 million Euros, will use biometric scanners and electronic cards containing the supporter’s name, address, photo and fingerprints.

Around four million people are expected to apply for a card as tickets will no longer be sold at stadiums.
