London Fashion Week continues with its flurry of haute couture and A-list celebrities. Vogue editor Anna Wintour and British actor Colin Firth were among those spotted at the Tom Ford show.
The 52-year-old American designer created an intimate setting, where models sparkled as they slid down the catwalk, reflecting the spotlights that lit up their path. He said his upcoming spring-summer collection was all about dressing the ‘powerful’ Tom Ford woman.
‘‘This season I wanted it to be quite strong and athletic, you know in the summer you exercise and your body is toned, your thighs are toned, your shoulders – you’ve been swimming – you need minimal things on your face hopefully because you have a fresh, natural glow, and I wanted to create this powerful woman on the runway,” Ford said.
His collections were once displayed behind closed doors to private clients and editors of glossy fashion magazines. But this is his second show on the London Fashion Week schedule and he admitted the city has a certain charm and pulling power.
Scottish designer Christopher Kane unveiled his new look for Spring-Summer 2014.
A graduate of London’s Central St Martins, Kane is known for his love of detail and embellishments that radically transform garments. For this collection, the 31-year-old designer focused on flowers and more specifically on petals, with some garments featuring cut-out shaped paisley patterns.
Models sashayed down the catwalk in sharp tailored trouser suits, three-quarter length skirts and sexy cocktail dresses. The botanical motif also made an appearance on pantsuits and dresses in the form of crystal pendants scattered across the silhouette.
Silk, pleats and iridescent fabrics also featured in the young designer’s latest collection.
