In a rare show of force, fighters from militant Islamist group Hamas paraded along the Gaza strip.
Joined by members of the Islamic Jihad, two PLO groups and other Islamist factions, the hundreds of armed men said their parade was a condemnation of the renewed Palestinian-Israeli peace talks.
One militant said:“We did not authorize anyone to negotiate on our behalf. Did we say our people are weak or the Arab nation is weak? We are strong because we have our rights.”
Meanwhile in Jerusalem violent clashes erupted for the second time in as many days following Friday prayers. Around fifteen people were arrested and police used stun grenades to subdue the Palestinian protesters.
These clashes come just before US Secretary of State John Kerry is due to relaunch peace talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.
