Noon prayers in the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan took an unusual turn on Wednesday when Syrians called on America and the West to bomb Bashar al-Assad.
World opinion may be divided on the merits of intervention in the Syrian crisis, but for these people forced from their homes by the regime in Damascus, there is no question about what needs to be done.
“The Syrian people have been killed for more than two years, while the world watched. Now it’s time that the world moved and ended the killing and the destruction. Chemical weapons were used four days ago. We support the military solution regardless of any reasons against,” said one man.
Many in this camp are from Deraa, the crucible of the uprising which faced the initial armed fury of the regime unleashed on peaceful demonstrators. No-one here has forgotten, and they are desperate to return home.
