Two Iranian men have been convicted by a Thai court for their involvement in a botched bomb plot aimed at Israeli diplomats in Bangkok last year.

Saeid Moradi, who accidently blew off his own legs after throwing a bomb at police, was found guilty of attempted murder and given a life sentence. His co-defendant, Mohammed Khazaei, received a 15 year term for the lesser charge of possession of explosive devices.

The two Iranians’ lawyer, Kittipong Kiattanapoom, said that “both sides accept the court’s verdict” and did not confirm whether his “clients will appeal or not.” He added that they “need time to discuss” the matter.

Five people were wounded in a series of explosions in Bangkok in February last year.

Israel has accused Iran of orchestrating the attacks, however Tehran has denied the accusations.
