Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv have been disqualified from the Champions League over a domestic match-fixing case dating back to 2008.
Metalist were due to face Schalke 04 in the playoff round but UEFA’s emergency committee announced on Wednesday that their place would be taken by PAOK, the Greek side they outclassed in the previous round.
Myron Markevych’s men, who finished second in the Ukrainian Premier League last season, have the right to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which could overturn its ban.
