Two Turkish pilots were kidnapped in Beirut by gunmen who intercepted their bus early on Friday morning.
Six Turkish Airlines crew were on board, but only the pilot and co-pilot were taken.
The Turkish foreign ministry and airline said they were in close contact with the Lebanese authorities.
There has been no claim of responsibility so far but the incident could be linked to the conflict in neighbouring Syria. Turkey supports the Syrian rebels, while Lebanese Shi’ites are fIrmly behind Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
In 2012, several Lebanese Shi’ites were kidnapped in northern Syria by rebels. Their relatives have demanded Ankara take greater steps to win their release.
