Supporters of Egypt’s deposed president Mursi have rallied in their thousands in Cairo to celebrate Eid and to demand the former president’s reinstatement.

Demonstrators were treated to a surprise appearance on stage by Mursi’s wife, Naglaa Mahmoud. She appealed to the crowds and to Egyptian authorities for her husband to be released and returned to power.
Despite threats by the interim government to clear the camp, the crowds at Rabaa al-Adawiya remain defiant.
