Mario Zagallo statue unveiled

Legendary Brazilian football player and coach Mario Zagallo was officially honoured with a statue in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday.

The ceremony, which took place outside the Olympic stadium, was attended by former team-mate Amarildo, former national team coach Carlos Alberto Parreira and football federation president Jose Marin, who were all quick to praise the 81 year old.

Zagallo, who was also a long-time hero for local Rio de Janeiro club Botafogo, is a four-time world champion, winning the World Cup in 1958, ’62, ’70, and ’94.
