Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg have joined forces for the buddy movie ’2 Guns’.
The film which is based on the comic series of the same name, follows two crooked undercover officers – one from the DEA and the other from the Navy – unknowingly leading investigations on each other.
Wahlberg feels it all came together because the two actors played so well off one another: “The movie lives and dies with our chemistry. If the movie didn’t have great chemistry, the movie would not work at all. It’s like ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,’ it’s just about these two guys and there’s a bunch of people chasing after them. It’s really about these guys, so if that doesn’t work, you’re screwed.”
The action movie centres around the two operatives on a covert mission to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel. At first, neither is aware that the other is working undercover. But when their identities are compromised, their agencies deny their involvement, forcing them to work together in evading both the law and the cartel.
Oscar award-winning actor, Denzel Washington, said he enjoyed working on the film: “It was a lot of fun. And a lot of fun to make. We had a really good time shooting in Louisiana and New Mexico. Mark Wahlberg, is first of all is a very good actor and very funny, but more importantly he’s a good guy, a really good guy. We work well together and I look forward to the opportunity to work with him again.”
The film also stars Paula Patton, James Marsden and Bill Paxton.
‘2 Guns’ is released in UK on 16 August.
