Emirates Team New Zealand produced yet another flawless run to down Italy’s Luna Rossa in their final meeting of the round-robins in the America’s Cup challenger trials in San Francisco on Sunday.
Dean Barker’s men never relinquished the lead they had at the start of the event, eventually completing the the seven-leg course 3 minutes and 21 seconds faster than the Italians, to the delight of American actor Tom Cruise and his son who were given a ride across the bay following the win.
The Louis Vuitton Cup finals begin Aug. 17, with the winner taking on Oracle Team USA in the 34th edition of the America’s Cup which gets underway in September.
