Borussia Dortmund outclassed treble winners Bayern Munich 4-2 to claim the German Super Cup at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.
German international Marco Reus took advantage of a dreadful mistake from goalkeeper Tom Starke to put the home side ahead in the sixth minute before former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben drew the sides level with a glancing header just after the restart.
The hosts retook the lead two minutes later, courtesy of an own goal by Daniel van Buyten and quickly made it 3-1 after Ilkay Gundogan curled a fine strike into the bottom corner.
Despite a late push from the hosts and a second goal from Robben, it wasn’t to be for the Bavarians as new Dortmund signing Emerick Aubameyang set up Reus for his second in the 86th to complete a successful start to the season.
