Italy’s first black minister has responded after having bananas thrown at her while making a speech at a party rally.
She tweeted that it was a waste of food considering the economic crisis and people dying of hunger.
Integration minister Cecile Kyenge, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has faced regular insults since being elected.
She has received particular hatred from far-right groups after campaigning to make it easier for immigrants to gain Italian citizenship.
