Argentina’s Gerardo Martino has been officially unveiled as the new manager of Barcelona on Friday.

The 50 year old, who has signed a two-year contract at the Camp Nou, becomes the Catalans’ third manager in as many years, after Tito Vilanova, who had succeeded Pep Guardiola, only spent a season in charge, as he was forced to step down due to illness.

Martino, who steered Paraguay to the last eight of the 2010 World Cup, will get the first chance to test his squad when Lionel Messi’s team-mates play a friendly at Polish side Lechia Gdansk on Tuesday.
