Bayern Munich’s new coach Pep Guardiola leads out his team at a presentation ceremony at the club’s Alianz Arena.
The unveiling of the Bavarian side for the upcoming season comes a day before Guardiola sends out his men, including new recruits Thiago Alcantara and Mario Goetze, to face his former club Barcelona in a pre-season friendly.
At the helm the Spaniard replaces Jupp Heynckes who last term steered Bayern to unprecedented treble of Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League titles.
But captain Philip Lahm had a rather philosophical tone when asked whether this season would be as good as the last.
He said: “Every opponent is dangerous. It is not always a given that each season is like last year. It was a complete exception. So many points have not been won in the 50 years of the Bundesliga. That’s why, from the start, we have to win points from game to game and then we will see how many we lose, how many we draw but of course we want to win as many games as we can.”
After individual presentations the squad were put through their paces in a training session, much to the delight of the tens of thousands of fans, as they prepare for Barcelona and the start of their Bundesliga title defence which kicks off at home against Borussia Moenchengladbach on August 9.
