Pope Francis has touched down in Rio de Janiero for his first foreign trip as pontiff.
Welcomed by Brazilian president Dilma Roussef, the pope was also greeted by a large crowd for his landmark visit.
He will be in Brazil for a week of events expected to attract more than a million people.
The country is home the world’s largest Roman Catholic population.
