It's a boy, Kensington Palace announces royal birth


Born at 4.24 UK time the third in line to the UK throne is a baby boy. The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her son at St Mary’s Hospital in London. Weighing 3.8 kilos the name of William and Kate’s son has yet to be announced.

Kate is said to be doing well and resting at the hospital.

Journalists who have been waiting outside of the clinic for the last week have gone into overdrive with live coverage across the world.

Prince William’s press secretary Ed Perkins emerged from the Lindo wing in the early evening carrying the announcement which he passed to a blue Jaguar car which took off for the royal residence in London.

The formal announcement has arrived at Buckingham Palace where crowds are beginning to gather outside the gates.
