New pictures have been released of the moment one of the Boston marathon bombing suspects was cornered by police.
The images, taken by a police photographer, show a bloodied Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in Watertown, Massachusetts.
The officer reportedly released the contrasting pictures in response to a controversial Rolling Stone magazine front cover, which features the suspect.
The officer is now said to have been suspended.
A huge manhunt was launched for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his older brother after the Boston attack.
Prosecutors say it culminated in a gun battle which ended when Dzhokhar ran over his brother – contributing to his death.
The 15 April attack happened near the marathon finish line. Authorities say three people were killed and more than 260 injured after a pair of homemade pressure-cooker bombs were detonated.
It was the worst mass-casualty attack on US soil since 11 September 2001.
