American sprinter Tyson Gay has pulled out of next month’s World Championships after testing positive for a banned substance on Sunday.
The 30 year old, who posted the year’s fastest 100 meters time of 9.75 seconds, told journalists he was notified by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency earlier this week that his A sample from an out of competition test on May 16 had returned positive.
Gay, the 2007 world champion, added he will have his ‘B’ sample tested soon.
