Europe's 'most wanted' drug trafficker caught in Colombia

The man known as Europe’s most wanted drug trafficker has been arrested in Colombia and deported to Italy.

Suspected mafia boss, Roberto Pannunzi, was caught in a Bogota shopping centre carrying a false Venezuelan identity card.

Authorities say he is the world’s biggest cocaine importer, accusing him of bringing in two tonnes of cocaine into Europe every month.

Pannunzi is linked to the powerful Calabrian ‘Ndrangheta, a crime syndicate closely associated with Colombian drug cartels.

He was arrested in 2004 but managed to escape detention in 2010 while he was in hospital in Rome.
