Mario Goetze was officially presented to the media on Wednesday as Bayern Munich showed off their 37 million euro summer signing.
Goetze joined the Bundesliga champions from rivals Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal.
Despite getting off to a controversial start by wearing a t-shirt with the club’s rival sponsors blazoned across the front, the 21-year old Germany international said he was excited about working under new coach Pep Guardiola.
He said: “I don’t know what the coach has in mind, who is going to play which position, we will see that. But I think all of us in the team have high hopes, we have a great coach, and it is very likely that there will be comparisons with Barcelona. I think every player is prepared for that and so am I.”
Guardiola has already begun his new role which started on July 1st.
The Spaniard has big shoes to fill though, after replacing Jupp Heynckes who in his last season in charge led the club to an unprecedented Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup treble.
