Germany’s Nico Rosberg claimed his second race victory of the season on Sunday by winning a thrilling, action-packed British Grand Prix at Silverstone for Mercedes.
With ten laps remaining world champion and race leader Sebastian Vettel suffered a gearbox failure leaving Rosberg clear to take the chequered flag, his second after also winning in Monaco.
Vettel’s Australian Red Bull teammate Mark Webber was second with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso third.
Pole sitter Lewis Hamilton was one of four drivers to suffer tyre blowouts but the Mercedes driver then produced a stunning drive from the back of the field to take fourth place.
Despite retiring for the first time this season Vettel remains at the top of the drivers standings 21 points clear of Alonso while after 8 rounds so far Red Bull are the run away leaders in the constructors race followed by Mercedes and Italian glamour team Ferrari.
