Sebastien Vettel won his third race of the season on Sunday after cruising to victory at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
The triple world champion started from pole and never looked back as he easily racked up his 29th career win and first in North America.
The German Red Bull driver crossed over ahead of Ferrari’s double world champion Fernando Alonso of Spain while Britain’s Lewis Hamilton, who started second on the grid, had to settle for third place for Mercedes.
Vettel extended his lead in the driver’s standings to 36 points over Alonso whose second place finish on the day lifted him to second overall after seven of the season’s 19 races.
Finland’s Kimi Räikkönen finished a lowly ninth in his Lotus but remains in third place overall followed by Hamilton.
Red Bull are pulling away in the constructors standings – they are 56 points clear of glamour team Ferrari. Mercedes are giving chase in third position a further 11 points back.
The next stop on the F1 calendar is the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on June 30th.
