Canada’s Drew Bezanson held his nerve to claim a freestyle BMX event at the Westerngasfabriek culture park in Amsterdam on Saturday.

The 24-year-old, who was forced to withdraw from X Games 2011 after a June head injury took him off his bike for the rest of the season, looked in great shape and eventually edged out Britain’s Ben Wallace to secure the win with America’s Pat Casey completing the podium.

BMX gold medalist Gary Young and America’s Daniel Sandoval finished fourth and fifth respectively.
