Rafael Nadal has stormed into his eighth French open final, beating world number 1 Novak Djokovic three sets to two in a thrilling semi-final.
Nadal has already won the tournament at Roland Garros seven times and has only ever been beaten once in 59 matches in the competition in the course of his entire career.
The Spaniard took the first set 6-4 before Djokovic levelled at one set apiece (6-3). Nadal then raced away with the third set, taking it 6-1, giving the impression that he was on an unstoppable roll. But Djokovic, desperately searching the one Grand Slam that still eludes him, fought back to take set 4 after a tie-break (7-3).
The deciding set was a nail-biter that was eventually won by the 27-year-old man from Majorca 9-7.
