With European club football’s top prize firmly in the hands of captain Phillipe Lahm and outgoing coach Jupp Heynckes Bayern Munich returned home on Sunday.
After losing two finals in the previous three seasons the Bavarian giants ended their recent Champions League disappointment by beating fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Wembley in the competition’s very first all-German finale.
It was the side’s fifth European crown meaning only AC Milan and Real Madrid have won more titles.
The title celebrations will be short however.
After also winning the Bundesliga this campaign Bayern will be back in training in preparation to face Stuttgart in the German Cup final on Saturday, June 1 when the club will look to complete an unprecedented treble of titles for a German team.
