Two suspects have been killed during an anti-terror raid near Moscow. According to Russian authorities, gunfire erupted when officers surrounded a house in Orekhovo Zuyevo.
Officials said they were targeting a group which was planning to carry out an attack in the capital.
“We saw people in camouflage near a two-storey building. There were snipers on garages opposite. All transport was stopped and police blocked the approaches to the house,” said one witness.
A third person was held during Monday’s operation.
All of the suspects were said to be Russian citizens. It is claimed they had taken part in training in the region of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
