Nelson Mandela discharged from hospital in South Africa

Former South African President Nelson Mandela has been discharged from hospital in Pretoria after a nine-day stay for treatment of pneumonia and is now resting at home. It was the third time that he had been taken to hospital since December.

This latest health scare caused concern as it was the longest period of time he has spent hospitalised since being released from prison after 27 years in 1990.

It was during Mandela’s imprisonment that he developed lung problems. Since entering hospital on March 27th there has been an outpouring of well wishes for the former President of South Africa. He is now set to continue with his recuperation at home.
