Moscow Amnesty International headquarters raided


Officials from the prosecutors office and tax police have raided the Moscow headquarters of Amnesty International.

It is one of a number of raids carried out recently at non-profit organisations funded from outside Russia.

The Kremlin has introduced new restrictions and requirement of organisations receiveing money from abroad. Certain groups are now required to register as ‘foreign agents’

A spokesman from Russia’s Ministry of Justice says the raids are compliance checks.
