He was a close aide to the late Libyan leader and just one of several high-profile figures residing in Egypt that have been pursued by Interpol and the Libyan authorities since the end of the war.
Egypt’s prosecutor general has ordered the detention of Gaddaf al-Dam for 30 days while the charges against him are being investigated.
