A singing troupe of Russian grannies has been entertaining the UK capital – as part of a series of events to celebrate Russia’s springtime festival Maslenitsa.
Euronews was treated to a private performance from the group, called the Buranovo Grannies, in one of the capsules of the London Eye.
One of the singers explained what they do: “It started when we tried to translate foreign hits. But we prefer rock songs. Babushki women like travelling, visiting cities and meeting people!”
The group represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest last year. They came second.
